Stepfamilies are the fastest growing family from in the United States today. Old rules and expectations of bioligical families do not apply

How stepfamlies are different:

other biological parents and relatives have influence over the stepfamily
*
children live in two different households

Problems that result from theses differences include:
*
competition and conflict with ex-spouses
*
differences in discipline style
*
loyalty issues for children and biological parents
*

*
questions of how to "fit in" with the new family
*
custody changes and its impact on families
